Repairman dies while fixing hospital’s elevator

An elevator repairman died after he was trapped while fixing an elevator at a Louisville, KY, hospital.
William Motley had been working on an elevator for several hours one day at Saints Mary and Elizabeth Hospital. He was on a ladder inside the shaft when he became pinned by one of the elevators.
The coroner’s office said he died of multiple blunt force injuries and traumatic asphyxiation.
Motley was an employee of Schindler Elevator Co.
OSHA is investigating.
