The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has an online calculator to help individuals determine how long they need to isolate, quarantine or take other precautions to prevent spreading COVID-19.
This tool uses information about when someone was exposed to COVID-19, their vaccination status and any symptoms that are being experienced to provide appropriate recommendations on quarantining, according to law firm Levenfeld Pearlstein.
These recommendations do not change based on COVID-19 community levels. They do not apply to people who are moderately or severely ill or those who are immunocompromised.
Further, the information provided by the calculator is for a general audience, not healthcare professionals. Healthcare professionals are directed to the CDC’s “Ending Isolation and Precautions for People with COVID-19.”
