One of the reasons why worker fatalities decreased in 2008 was because fewer people were working, according to a government report. As the economy recovers, more people will return to work - people who will need safety training.
The acting director of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health has some thoughts on that.

After the last recession was over in 2002, overtime spiked and so did accidents and injuries on the job. That wasn’t even ten years ago. But, will senior managers remember or allow it to happen again? Let’s hope they remember!! Keep safe.
