You know Mike Rowe, the guy on the Discovery Channel who hosts Dirty Jobs? A viewer recently called him out on not wearing the proper safety gear on his show. His response? “Of all the platitudes embraced in the workplace there is none more pervasive, erroneous, overused and dangerous than ‘Safety First!’”

Safety warnings: How many are enough?

When a new stretch of the Bay Bridge opened in San Francisco last year, the California Department of Transportation posted signs warning drivers about an upcoming sharp curve and announcing a 10 m.p.h. drop in the speed limit. Now the family of a deceased truck driver is suing, claiming the signs weren’t enough.
